Quickbooks and Excel

A great combination !

Goodbye Enterprise !

It was with sadness that I heard the news  last year that Quickbooks Enterprise was being discontinued in the UK.  The last available version is 2014 and, from what I have heard, support will end in July 2017. As you know from my earlier posts I am a great fan of QBE.

Please note , however, that the international version will still continue to be released. Although  it will not be suitable for the UK’s VAT system, there are workarounds. You also have the option of using Quickbooks Pro or Premier and version 2016 is out.

Cloud accounting- a matter of personal preference

Cloud accounting is being presented as  the future of Accounting . Those businesses not jumping  on the bandwagon are , at best,  labelled : “considering  the move” or cynically as : ” requiring education”  !!!

Whilst I am not entirely against the principle of cloud accounting, I do feel that there is a decision to make and many factors to take into account before moving to cloud – one of which is security. I am not happy with the way cloud companies are quick to dismiss security concerns. There is much more to it.

I sometimes ask myself  how many accountancy firms actually run their own internal accounting system on cloud . If they are so eager to promote cloud accounting to clients , shoudn’t  they set an example ? No doubt, they will say that cloud accounting does not have the features that they need .
